Nagpur| At least seven medical students died in a road accident in Maharashtra. The SUV, the driver of the vehicle, lost control and it fell into the river from a bridge. The son of a BJP MLA is also among those killed. Officials said the accident happened late on Monday night.
According to the police, the accident took place at around 11.30 pm on a river bridge near Selsura. When he was going from Deoli to Wardha.
On a section of the bridge, the driver lost control and the SUV broke down the barrier and fell into the river below.
Police said the 7 victims also included Avishkar, an MBBS first-year student and son of Tirora BJP MLA Vijay Rahangdale. All were studying in Wardha’s Savangi Medical College.
Other victims include Pratyush Singh, Shubham Jaiswal, Neeraj Chauhan and Vivek Nandan, final year MBBS students, Pawan Shakti studying MBBS first year and medical intern Nilesh Singh.
Rescue teams pulled the SUV out of the river in the early hours of today and the Wardha Police is conducting further investigation.
