National Economic Forum conference on Public-Private Partnerships in the age of Corporate Responsibility

New Delhi: The recently established National Economic Forum (NEF) held its
first outreach conference in the Research and Innovation Park auditorium
of IIT Delhi. The theme around which these talks were held is “Public
Private Partnerships in the age of Corporate Responsibility (Social and
Research)”, it aimed to highlight India’s strong CSR (Corporate Social
Responsibility) framework, which is being implemented by various levels
of government all over the world, and perhaps more importantly India’s
lacklustre framework for R&D funding, which was termed CRR (or
Corporate Research Responsibility).

The panel included pre-eminent experts across multiple sectors of the
Indian economy and government service, each of whom highlighted the
present frameworks for CSR as well as research funding and shared their
thoughts on the areas of specific impact that they believed the NEF should
collaborate with them to catalogue and suggest improvements.
Shri Devesh Tripathi, President National Economic Forum
inaugurated the conference with his presidential address and discussed
about Vision and Mission of NEF. The panel included: Dr. Sapna Poti
(Director of Strategic Alliances, Principle Scientific Advisory Office, GoI),
Prof.(Dr.) Sukumar Mishra (Associate Dean of R&D, IIT Delhi), Dr.
Ramaraju, Director(6G Technologies, Telecom Engineering Centre, New
Delhi) Director Dr. K. Srinivas (Associate Director General, ICAR), Dr.
N. Parasuraman (Principal Scientist, M.S. Swaminathan Research
Foundation, Member UN Panel for ending World Hunger) and Mr. Sharad
Srivastava (Commissioner CGST Agra).

The panellists span different sectors and intersections of academia,
government and represent India while collaborating with global MNCs and
Non-Profit Organisations and were enthusiastic about a sustained
collaboration with the NEF on an institutional as well as the personal level and
will help map out the ‘impact areas’ that the organisation is identifying and
how to create equitable economic models around them.
