06 GANG MEMBERS OF “TTE” GANG ARRESTED

New Delhi: The diligent team of Police Station Punjabi Bagh has done commendable work by arresting 06 members of imposters “TTE” (Travelling Ticket Examiner) gang namely Shankar Panjiyar s/o Mahender (Previous Involvements-20), Bablu s/o Devender (Previous involvement-02) Sanjay Kumar s/o Bigan Rai, Amit s/o Suresh Rai, Santosh Kumar s/o Ravinder Rai and Vipin Kumar s/o Rajkishore Mahto with the recovery of 30 stolen mobile phones and 19 bags along with the belongings of victims.

INCIDENT
On 04.02.2024, complainant informed stated that when he was going towards the railway station for his home, a gang of 5-6 unknown persons had cheated him of his hard-earned cash, luggage, smartphones, ATM cards, electronic goods, and other valuable items. As per the statement of the complainant a case under section 420/34 IPC PS Punjabi Bagh was registered and the investigation was taken up.

TEAM, INVESTIGATION AND OPERATION
Sensing the gravity of the case, immediately a team comprising of SI Mandeep Kumar, SI Rohan Singh Marwah, HC Sandeep, HC Sudhir, Ct Prince and Ct Devender under the leadership of Inspr. Devender Oberoi, SHO Punjabi Bagh and overall supervision of ACP Punjabi Bagh, was formed to nab the accused persons.

During the course of investigation, it was revealed that the complainant for going to his hometown Bihar, boarded metro from IFFCO Chowk Metro station, Gurugram to deboard at New Delhi Metro Station for the New Delhi Railway Station. There, he was approached by four men asking where he was heading for and the fraudster informed him that they were also travelling back to Bihar. They became friendly with the complainant and then, he was informed by one person of that group, that he is working as TTE in the Indian Railways and can help all of them in getting a reserved seat for the long journey ahead.
The whole group then deboarded at Punjabi Bagh West Metro Station so as to meet the alleged/made-up TTE in the train washing area near the Shakurbasti cluster and the complainant was taken to Ramlila Maidan where he was made to handover his cash and bags containing his smartphone, ATM cards and other valuable items into the custody of one of the group members on the pretext of getting a seat reserved in the train. The gang then asked the complainant to wait till they meet the TTE. They also took all the belongings of the victim. The fraudster left the place and did not return.
During the course of investigation, all CCTVs footage in the vicinity of Punjabi Bagh West Metro station and the Ramilila Maidan were thoroughly checked for any recording of the incidence. With the help of CCTV footages, the persons were then traced back and verified with the footage at the boarding station. Information was developed from the informers about the alleged persons, who were later traced at their shared rented room in Nihal Vihar. During the examination, they disclosed about their activities and further recovery of 30 smartphones along with 19 luggage bags was effected from their possession.

INTERROGATION & MODUS OPERANDI OF ACCUSED PERSONS
Accused persons Sanjay Kumar, Santosh Kumar and Amit admitted their offence. Other three co-accused were also arrested in this case. Their modus operandi was to identify and target innocent labourers workers and other persons working minimal jobs who leave for their hometown with their hard-earned money. The gang would then split in two sub-groups, one getting friendly with the target and luring them for securing a reserved railway ticket with the help of relative working as TTE in the Indian Railways, and the other group would pose as innocent stranger also ready to get the reserved ticket from them for the same journey towards their hometown to win the confidence of the innocent targets.

ACCUSED PERSONS
1. Shankar Panjiyar s/o Mahender Panjiyar r/o PS Bela, Distt Sitamarhi, Bihar, age-29 years, he has studied upto 05th standard. He came to Delhi in 2013. He lived with his family in Delhi. He used to work as E-rickshaw. (Previous Involvements-20)
2. Bablu s/o Devender r/o Distt Sitamarhi, Bihar, age-21 years, he is uneducated and came to Delhi in 2020. His family lives in Bihar. (Previous involvement-02)
3. Sanjay Kumar s/o Bigan Rai r/o Distt Sitamarhi, Bihar, age-22 years, he has studied upto 08th standard. He came to Delhi in 2022 and his family lives in Bihar.
4. Amit s/o Suresh Rai r/o Vill Bhararva, PS Dumra, Distt Sitamarhi, Bihar, age-25 years, he is uneducated and came to Delhi in 2023. His family lives in Bihar.
5. Santosh Kumar s/o Ravinder Rai r/o Vill Bhararva, PS Dumra, Distt Sitamarhi, Bihar, age-29 years, he is uneducated and came to Delhi in 2023. His family lives in Bihar.
6. Vipin Kumar s/o Rajkishore Mahto r/o Vill Sirsiya Bazar, PS Bela, Distt Pariyar, Bihar, age-23 years, he is uneducated and came to Delhi in 2023. His family also lives in Bihar.
