These days, while the top banners of the industry are experimenting with something different in the film industry, there is no dearth of young makers who are trying to take cinema on a new positive path on their own. Now one more name has been added to this list, that of director Avinash Das, who came into the limelight with the film ‘Anarkali of Aara’, whose new film ‘In Galiyon Mein’ is in the news these days among a special class of audience and in social media. This film is a tribute by a son to his father, the famous writer Vasu Malviya. Vasu’s son Punarvasu has written the screenplay of this film and he has also written most of the songs of the film. I remember the sweetness of the songs of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s hit film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, which is also present in the songs of this film. These songs make this film completely different from the common masala films of Mumbai. The opening tune of these songs has also been composed by Punarvasu. In my view, this film is a gift to the best Hindi literature.
Made under the banner of Yadunath Films, most of the shooting of this film has been done around Lucknow.
Story Plot
The story of the film revolves around three characters. This simple story of two narrow lanes, Ram and Rahim Gali, is a story of total brotherhood between Hindus and Muslims and the people of both the lanes playing Holi together on the day of Holi. In this lane, Hari Ram and Shabbo sell vegetables by putting up a hawker. Shabbo does not have parents, so Hari lives with his mother. In this lane, there is a tea and kebab shop of Mirza Sahib Javed Jafri, where all the people of Ram and Rahim Gali meet together. Mirza Sahib is a poet and gives the message of love to everyone. He sows the seeds of conflict and hatred among the people living in the lane. Netaji, who is contesting the MLA election from here, plans to show the match between India and Pakistan by installing a big screen in the lane so that he can cause a riot in Ram and Rahim Gali during the result of this match. Does this plan of Netaji succeed or not? No, come to ‘In Galiyon Mein’ to know this.
Overall
Javed Jafri, Ishtiaq Khan, Sushant Singh, Avantika Dasani, Vivan Shah, Rajiv Dhyani, Himanshu Bajpai are the main actors of this film but Javed Jafri is the backbone of the film, his excellent acting is top notch, if you are fond of great films, you like good songs and music and want to watch a film based on a story connected to the ground, then you must go to this lane, this film of less than two hours duration will keep you hooked from start to last seat, and not only UP but every state government should make this film tax free which gives the message of love between Hindus and Muslims in this Holi season.
