Celebrating Democracy, Heritage, and Innovation – Together, Delhi Legislative Assembly Marks 100 Days of the Eighth Assembly with Launch of Report Card

New Delhi: The Delhi Legislative Assembly today celebrated the completion of 100 days of the Eighth Legislative Assembly with a ceremonial release of its Report Card—an impressive document that highlights the institution’s key achievements, innovations, and its evolving, inclusive legislative ethos.

The special event was held at the Assembly premises in the august presence of Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Shri Harsh Malhotra, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Hon’ble Speaker Shri Vijender Gupta presided over the event, joined by Social Welfare Minister of the Delhi Government Shri Ravinder Indraj Raj Singh, Hon’ble Deputy Speaker Shri Mohan Singh Bisht,and Chief Whip Shri Abhay Verma.

In his address, Shri Harsh Malhotra lauded the Assembly’s commendable work, describing the Report Card as “a reflection of remarkable accomplishments” and applauding its visionary theme of ‘Virasat se Vikas ki Ore’—a journey from heritage to progress. Recalling his formative years in public service, he fondly remembered working under the guidance of Shri Vijender Gupta during their tenure in the MCD, crediting him as a mentor whose emphasis on duty and discipline continues to influence him while discharging his duties as parliamentarian even today.

The Minister further praised the Speaker’s balanced leadership, highlighting a visible shift in the conduct of Assembly proceedings over the past 100 days. “In this entire period, not once have we witnessed the kind of disruptions that had become commonplace in the previous decade,” he remarked. “Shri Gupta has upheld democratic traditions, provided equal space to the Opposition, and ensured the dignity of the House.”

Shri Malhotra described the premises as a “living heritage,” emphasizing the importance of its preservation for generations to come.

Hon’ble Speaker Shri Vijender Gupta, in his address, reaffirmed the Delhi Legislative Assembly’s unwavering commitment to transparency, sustainable development, and cultural preservation. He emphasized that the Report Card is not merely a record of legislative performance, but a reflection of an evolving, citizen-centric model of legislative ethos.

Shri Gupta highlighted key milestones achieved during the Assembly’s first 100 days, including the successful implementation of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) to facilitate a paperless legislature and the laying of the foundation stone for a 500 kW solar power plant, underscoring the Assembly’s dedication to clean energy and green governance.

Shri Gupta further spoke of the modernization of the Assembly Library into a cutting-edge digital knowledge hub and the introduction of a comprehensive heritage conservation plan aimed at preserving the Assembly’s architectural and historical legacy.
Hon’ble Speaker also noted several people-centric initiatives such as the launch of the “Best MLA Award” to recognize legislative excellence, orientation programmes for newly elected members, and the celebration of India’s rich cultural fabric through events like the Hindu New Year and Mahavir Jayanti. Paying tribute to national icons such as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh, he emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to democratic ideals. Additionally, he acknowledged the Assembly’s growing national and international outreach through interactions with delegations from Odisha, Jharkhand, and Ethiopia, as well as its engagement with youth and civil society through programmes like the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament and public health awareness initiatives such as International Thalassemia Day.

Collectively, these efforts, Shri Gupta affirmed, symbolize the Assembly’s holistic approach to progress, inclusivity, and participatory legislation .

Among the report’s key highlights were:
