New Delhi: National Medical Forum and Delhi Hospital Forum President, Sanjeevan Hospital Chairman Dr. Prem Agarwal has strongly opposed the government’s pressure to implement the chaotic sewage treatment plant STP system being forcibly imposed on the hospitals of the capital.
Dr. Agarwal said that this system is completely unnecessary, if this system is implemented then there is a serious threat to the safety of doctors and staff personnel as well as the hospital management.
He said that according to the guidelines implemented by the Central Pollution Control Board in 2016, the central STP systems implemented in private hospitals of Delhi are safe and adequate, the water of the hospitals is recycled after treatment and this system has also been able to meet all the safety rules completely, but I don’t know why all the hospitals of Delhi are being forced to install STP at their respective places. This process has not been successful anywhere, rather it can put additional financial and technical burden on the hospital administration and also affect the quality of emergency services.
President Dr. Prem Agarwal along with all the members of the forum has demanded immediate intervention from the Lieutenant Governor Vinay Saxena in this regard and said that the administration should not force those hospitals to install STP which are already connected to the central sewage system. Delhi’s sewage system should be improved and strengthened so that unnecessary financial and technical pressure is not put on Delhi hospitals.
