Supreme Court dismisses plea for waiving 10th, 12th standard examination fees

NEW DELHI | The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to hear the petition urging the 10th and 12th standard examination fees to be waived this year. It was argued that many families are facing a financial crisis due to the lockdown. Justice Ashok Bhushan, R.K. Subhash Reddy and MR Shah’s bench said that they can issue directions to the government on this.

This petition was filed in the Supreme Court by an NGO on behalf of students and parents. Earlier on this issue, the High Court had said that a decision should be taken only after following the law and looking at the policies of the government.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the petition after a short hearing.

The petition filed in the Supreme Court said that the income of the people has come down due to the lockdown. They are barely able to get food for two times. The petition suggested that children’s fees be paid from the PM Care Fund.
