New Delhi | The fourth Air Force aircraft has left for Turkey along with the rest of the field hospital to deliver relief material to Turkey, which is suffering from the earthquake tragedy. The Government of India has dispatched this aid to Turkey on Tuesday. According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, this includes 54 members of the Indian Army medical team as well as medical and other equipment to set up a medical facility.
Significantly, more than 4 thousand people have died in Turkey due to the tremors of the earthquake. Considering the seriousness of the situation, India has decided to send relief material to Turkey. It was decided by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) that NDRF, medical teams, and rescue teams along with relief material would be sent to Turkey immediately. Following the decision of the PMO, two teams of NDRF, specially trained dog squad and 100 personnel with necessary equipment have been sent to Turkey for relief and rescue.
Significantly, before this, Pakistan has refused to give airspace to the Indian aircraft carrying humanitarian aid to Turkey. Due to this attitude of Pakistan, the Indian aircraft had to take a long detour and reach Turkey through another route. Pakistan has emerged as an object of condemnation in front of the world community for obstructing the help of a troubled country. Experts believe that the actions of Pakistan, which is passing through a period of instability, have further weakened its credibility in front of the world community.
In such a situation, the Indian plane which had left for Turkey with relief material was supposed to reach Turkey via Pakistani airspace, but Pakistan refused to give its airspace to the plane carrying relief material. According to the report, Turkish Ambassador Firat Sunel thanked India for sending aid to Turkey and said that a friend who is useful in need is a true friend. Turkey has praised India for supporting it in times of trouble and has described India as its true friend. Firat Sunel said through social media that ‘friend’ is a common word in Turkish and Hindi. We have a Turkish proverb that a friend in need is a true friend. He has thanked India for this help. On Monday, Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan visited the Turkish embassy and expressed condolences. He also informed the Turkish representatives here about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sympathy.
