Uttarakhand, May 30 . Three accused involved in the Ankita Bhandari murder case of Uttarakhand were convicted on Friday and sentenced to life imprisonment.
The sentence was announced by the Additional District and Sessions Court in Kotdwar. Pulkit Arya, his employee Saurabh Bhaskar and Ankit Gupta involved in this murder have been convicted under 302, 201, 354.
The court framed charges against the main accused Pulkit Arya involved in the murder under 302, 201, 354A and Immoral Trafficking Act. At the same time, Saurabh Bhaskar and Ankit Gupta were convicted under IPC sections 302, 201 and Immoral Trafficking Act.
The entire case was heard for two years and eight months. During this time a total of 47 witnesses were presented in the court. The hearing of this entire case was completed on 19 May, after which the court had fixed May 30 as the date for pronouncing the sentence.
Due to the poor financial condition of the house, Ankita Bhandari started working as a receptionist. But, it was not even 20 days since she joined the job that she disappeared. After this, Ankita’s father went to Pauri, Munikireti and Rishikesh to register a missing person’s case. But, no one listened to him. After this, when the pressure increased in this case, it was handed over to the police. After this, the police arrested Pulkit Arya and his two other companions Saurabh Bhaskar and Ankit Gupta.
After this, on 24 September 2022, Ankita Bhandari’s body was recovered from the Cheela river. This murder had agitated the people of Uttarakhand. People took to the streets and demanded strict action against the accused involved in this murder. People also expressed their anger by accusing the police administration of adopting a lax attitude in this matter.
