Another gift to Delhiites, CM Kejriwal inaugurates online consumer complaint e-filing system of Delhi government

NEW DELHI:  Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the Delhi government’s online portal for e-filing of consumer complaints on Tuesday. The Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DSCDRC) has decided to launch the e-Filing portal for the convenience of the consumers, especially in these challenging times of Corona. The consumers will be able to get the benefit of the virtual system, as they can register complaints with the DSCDRC at the comfort of their homes. While inaugurating the online system, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that while the Delhi government is encouraging people to stay indoors during Corona, the online complaint filing system will prove to be an essential step towards supporting its efforts. He said that Delhi is the first state to have launched the e-filing system and this will show a direction to the other states as well as the entire country, who will also learn from Delhi and move towards a similar direction. Delhi Food and Civil Supplies Minister Shri Imran Hussain also graced the event with his presence.
Inaugurating the e-filing portal via digital conference, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, “I want to welcome Madam Justice Sangita Dhingra Sehgal Ji, Hon’ble Food & Supply Minister Imran Hussain Ji, Secretary Meena Ji, and all other officials present in this event. I am happy that the system of e-filing of consumer complaints is beginning today. Delhi is the first state to have launched such a system to provide convenience to the citizens. I want to thank all the agencies, officials, engineers, and everybody who played an important role in putting forward such an effective system. In the last five years, the Delhi government has conducted many new experiments and taken many steps which have been discussed nationally and internationally, especially in the fields of education, healthcare, electricity, and water. The online system which has been launched by the consumer department will be a carved stone. This is a convenient step for the citizens, they do not need to visit offices, be it an advocate or an ordinary citizen, anyone can file their complaint at the comfort of their homes with 24×7 access and no time limits. The payments can also be done online. When we are encouraging people to stay indoors during Corona this will prove to be an essential step towards supporting our efforts. This will show a direction to the other states as well as the entire country, and the other states will also learn from Delhi and move towards a similar direction. I want to especially congratulate Sangita Dhingra Sehgal ji, for making this e-filing system a success so soon after joining in the month of June. I was going through the pendency of cases today and I hope that steps will be taken to resolve the 7000 pending cases of the State Commission in the district courts. The e-filing will prove to be a very significant step in this direction as well. I want to congratulate all the officials as well as the citizens of Delhi.”
Food and Civil Supplies Minister Shri Imran Hussain said, “Under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has taken significant steps in the last six years, so that the disputes are resolved as soon as possible. Delhi is the first state to have launched the e-filing consumer complaints system. I want to congratulate the State Commission, NIC and the officials of the food and supply department. Hon’ble CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal has always stressed on the importance of creating a system that is efficient for the early resolution of the consumer disputes in Delhi. To fulfill this objective I would like to request the presidents of the State Disputes Commission to keep working on resolving the consumer complaints at the earliest. On behalf of the DSCDRC, I want to assure you that we will do everything to provide convenience to the public and resolve consumer complaints at the earliest.”
The multi-fold benefits of the online filing of consumer complaints include ensuring a transparent and hassle-free system for the consumers, enabling modes of digital payment for contactless transactions, ease of digitization of documents, easy tracking of consumer applications, and 24×7 access to the portal. The online system is also environment friendly and time and cost-effective.
