New Delhi, October 6 The Election Commission has announced the dates for the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar announced the dates on Monday.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar stated that elections for all 243 seats in Bihar will be held in two phases. Voting for the first phase will be held on November 6 and the second phase on November 11. The election results will be declared on November 14. He further stated that the Commission has completed all preparations for the elections. Violence will not be tolerated during the elections and fake news will also be closely monitored.
CEC Gyanesh Kumar informed that the total number of voters in Bihar is approximately 74.3 million, of which approximately 39.2 million are male and approximately 35 million are female. He added that there are 1,725 third gender voters. Approximately 7.2 lakh disabled voters and 4.04 lakh senior citizens over the age of 85 are also on the voter list, while the number of voters over the age of 100 is 14,000. First-time voters are approximately 1.4 million.
It is noteworthy that the term of the Bihar Legislative Assembly ends on November 22. Several political parties had appealed to the Election Commission to hold elections immediately after the Chhath festival so that maximum number of people could cast their votes.
As a reminder, the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections were held in three phases. Voting for 71 assembly seats took place in the first phase on October 28, 2020, while voting for 94 seats took place in the second phase on November 3, and for 78 seats in the third phase on November 7. Counting of votes took place on November 10.
