New Delhi, February 8. The results of the Delhi assembly elections have come out. Here BJP has registered a huge victory. In the union territory with 70 assembly seats, BJP has got 48 seats. Whereas, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has won 22 seats and Congress has once again failed to open its account.
For the first time in Delhi elections, more women voters voted than men. This time women voters voted 60.92 percent, while men voted 60.21 percent. The total number of voters who voted in this election was 94,51,997, out of which 50,42,988 were men, 44,08,606 were women and 403 were voters of other categories.
In such a situation, ‘women factor’ dominated the most in this huge victory of BJP. This time, women voters showed more trust in the election promises of BJP than Aam Aadmi Party. In the 2020 elections, the free travel scheme for women by Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi itself had contributed significantly to its victory. This time too, the box of promises for women voters was opened by AAP, which promised to continue free bus service for women and to give Rs 2,100 per month to women under the ‘Mahila Samman Yojana’.
A similar promise was also made by Congress to woo women voters, which included the promise of giving Rs 2,500 per month to women under the ‘Pyaari Didi Yojana’ and giving cylinder for Rs 500 under the ‘Mehangai Mukti Yojana’.
While, BJP promised to give Rs 2,500 per month to women under the ‘Mahila Samridhi Yojana’, along with assuring to continue schemes like free electricity, free water, free bus for women being given by the Aam Aadmi Party government. Poor women were promised cylinders for Rs 500, free cylinders on Holi and Deepawali and Rs 21,000 for pregnant women.
BJP promised to increase pension of elderly people between 60 and 70 years from Rs 2,000 per month to Rs 2,500. Promise to increase pension amount of elderly people above 70 years, Divyangs, widows and deprived women from Rs 2,500 to Rs 3000, announcement was also made to open Atal canteens in every slum and provide food for Rs 5. Meaning, this time in the capital, parties made every possible effort to attract women voters with new schemes.
Out of these three parties, women of Delhi showed more trust in BJP’s promise and ‘PM Modi’s guarantee’. Women voters of Delhi voted in favor of BJP and as a result, the party was able to win 48 seats in Delhi.
The biggest reason behind this is that during the Punjab assembly elections in the year 2022, AAP had announced to give financial assistance to women every month, but it has not been implemented till date. On the other hand, women are getting financial assistance in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Assam.
