Bollywood mourns the demise of Pankaj Udhas; Sonu Nigam, Shankar Mahadevan, Madhuri Dixit, Anup Jalota expressed grief

Mumbai. Well-known playback singers Sonu Nigam, Shankar Mahadevan, Bhajan emperor Anup Jalota, and actress Madhuri Dixit have expressed grief over the demise of ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas.

Sonu Nigam expressed his condolences to the bereaved family on social media.

He wrote, “The most important part of my childhood has been lost today. Pankaj Udhas ji, I will always miss you. It breaks my heart to know that you are no more. Thank you for being you… Rest in peace.”

Singer and music composer Shankar Mahadevan also made an emotional post. He wrote, “Pankaj’s departure is a big loss for the music industry, which can never be compensated.”

Actress Madhuri Dixit Nene wrote on X, “I am deeply saddened by the demise of music legend Pankaj Udhas ji. His ghazals touched the souls of people all over the world. His legacy will always live in our hearts! Calmness.”

Singer, musician and actor Anup Jalota paid tribute to Pankaj Udhas by sharing a photo with him on social media X and wrote, “Shocking… demise of music industry legend and my friend Pankaj Udhas.” We express our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones at this difficult time.

Padma Shri awardee Pankaj Udhas died on Monday at the age of 72. Giving information about his demise, his daughter Nayaab Udhas wrote in the post that with great sadness we have to inform you that Padmashree Pankaj Udhas passed away on 26 February 2024. He was ill for a long time.

He started his career in 1980 with the album ‘Aahat’. After this, many such albums came one after the other, which caught the attention of the entire generation. Some of the prominent albums are – ‘Mukraar’, ‘Tarannum’, ‘Mehfil’, ‘Nayaab’ and ‘Afreen’.
