CAA will not take away citizenship, Amit Shah assures minorities

Hyderabad. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday assured minorities that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) will not take away their citizenship.

He alleged that Congress and some other parties are spreading confusion among the people for vote bank politics.

Amit Shah was addressing the booth presidents of Telangana BJP at LB Stadium in Hyderabad.

He made it clear that CAA is a law to give citizenship, not to take it away.

“I want to tell the minority brothers and mothers of this country that no citizen will lose his citizenship because of CAA. CAA is a law to give citizenship, not to take it. Owaisi, Kharge and Rahul Gandhi are all lying that minorities will lose their citizenship due to this. I assure you that there is no provision under CAA to take away anyone’s citizenship, it is a provision to give citizenship to refugees.

Amit Shah earlier addressed a meeting of BJP’s social media warriors. He said that the Modi government implemented CAA as promised.

He said, “The makers of our Constitution had promised that refugees coming from Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan after suffering persecution would be given citizenship. However, Congress continued to oppose it due to appeasement and vote bank politics. Narendra Modi ji has honored Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs and others by giving them citizenship.”
