New Delhi, February 24:Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar told the newly
graduated students that you have the key to Viksit Bharat@ 2047, unlock it. The Vice President was addressing the 100th convocation of University of Delhi as the chief guest. In his detailed speech, he said that this centenary convocation in the 75th year of the Republic is much more than just a ceremony.
This is a launch pad for all of you. It is somewhat similar to the ISRO rocket launch pad at Sriharikota. This safe launch pad will take you not only to new destinations but also to new
heights inspired by the elixir you have gathered in this university. On this occasion, the function was presided over by the Vice Chancellor of Delhi University, Prof. Yogesh Singh did it. During this ceremony, degrees were awarded to 138020 UG, PG and 659 PhD students who completed their degrees in 2022-23.

Vice Chancellor of University of Delhi Prof. Yogesh Singh presided over the function and welcomed Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. He also presented a detailed account of
the glorious journey of 101 years of the university. He called upon the graduating students to maintain the high standards of the University such as ethics, honesty, hard work, humility and determination in their lives. Four books were also released on this occasion. During the ceremony, 9 students were also honored with gold medals and awards by the Vice President. In his special convocation address, the Vice President said that I feel extremely happy to be among you all as the Chancellor at the centenary convocation of Delhi University. He congratulated the degree receiving students, their parents, their friends and faculty members on this important occasion. He said that this is a memorable event! The degree awarded this time will have many new features, the most impressive of which are the name of the student's mother and a colour photo of the student.

Discussing the degree, the Vice President said that this degree has 17 unique security features like currency notes, which will make it difficult to imitate. This shows our technical adaptability and our technical capability. Discussing about the convocation dress, he said that the pleasant thing is that this dress code matches our culture more. While addressing the students, Jagdeep Dhankhar said that your learning does not end with degree, you have to always be engaged in learning. Learning is a lifelong activity and it is our commitment to humanity. You leave as an alumnus of this great university with the
determination to always make yourself, your parents, your friends, the alma mater and the nation proud. Concluding his address, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar appealed to the students to say, “Remember, you all are an important part of the marathon journey of Bharat@2047. Its success rests on your shoulders, I have full hope and confidence that the nation will succeed, because you cannot afford to fail. You are the architects not only of your own destiny, but also of our shared future.”
Corruption is no longer the path of contact and recruitment: Dhankhar The Vice President said that law enforcement efficiency and accountability is now the new norm. Law abiding citizens are excited and those violating it are on the run. This is the current scenario of India. Gone are the days of patronage, nepotism and favoritism. Corruption is no longer the route of contact and recruitment. The India that awaits you offers equal opportunities to all, giving you a platform to move forward based on your talent and hard work. Nothing can be more rewarding than giving impressionable young minds a level playing field. You have equal opportunities and you deserve to be rewarded for it. Corruption affects the vulnerable the most, affecting women the most. This has been the curse of our society for a very long time. He said that the dark clouds of corruption which have been hanging over our country for a long time have now gone away. Opportunities can only have meaning when those facing those opportunities know that we will be evaluated on merit. In the contemporary canvas of society, opportunities are now determined by merit and not by patronage. Instead of becoming a hindrance, governance is now enabling. It is openly
accessible and serves the people at large and is not just for the privileged few.

India is at the forefront of this revolution of technologies. The National Quantum Mission is just one example. We are one of seven countries in the world that are pushing the boundaries of this game-changing technology. He told the students to thing about the possibilities that await you. Imagine tackling diseases, designing revolutionary materials, and unlocking the secrets of the universe. It's all within your reach. He called upon
the youth not to limit themselves to traditional paths. India has great expectations from you, not only as an employee but also as an innovator, entrepreneur and change maker.
659 got PhD degree
In the 100th convocation of Delhi University, 659 students were awarded PhD degrees. Apart from these, degrees were also awarded to 138020 graduate students which include 130697 UG and 7323 PG students. Of these, 58545 are male and 79475 female students. These degrees were awarded in digital mode while medals and awards were presented through the platform. This time, a total of 207 medals/awards were given in the DU convocation ceremony, of which 173 were gold medals and certificates and 34 were award certificates. The total number of students who received these medals/awards was
167, which included 110 female and 57 male students.
