Center notifies transfer/appointment of High Court judges

New Delhi| The Center has notified the transfer of seven high court judges and also notified the appointment of five new judges in the Rajasthan High Court, comprising three advocates and two judicial officers. A Justice Department statement said, “In exercise of the power conferred under the Constitution of India, the President of India, in consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is transferring these Judges of the following High Court: Justice Rajan Gupta to Punjab and from Haryana High Court to Patna High Court, Justice TS Sivaganam has been transferred from Madras High Court to Calcutta High Court, Justice Sureshwar Thakur has been transferred from Himachal Pradesh High Court to Punjab and Haryana High Court, Karnataka Transfer of Justice PB Bajanthari from High Court Patna High Court,

Another statement said, “In exercise of the powers conferred under the Constitution of India, the President of India, in consultation with the Chief Justice of India, appointed the following Advocates and Judicial Officers as Judges of the High Court of Rajasthan: Advocate Farzand Ali, Advocate Sudesh Bansal, Advocate Anoop Kumar Dhand, Judicial Officer Vinod Kumar Bharwani and Judicial Officer Madan Gopal Vyas.

Last week President Ram Nath Kovind appointed Chief Justices in eight High Courts, including Allahabad and Madhya Pradesh, besides five Chief Justices in other High Courts. the transfer was approved.

On 2 October, Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana said the apex court collegium, which is headed by him, is aiming to fill up the vacancies in various high courts at the earliest and it does not want to cut down on the pace of the process, but to enable access to justice and promote democracy.
