Chief Minister Stalin and 33 ministers took an oath

Chennai| Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DSK) President Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin was sworn in as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu by Governor Banwarilal Purohit at Raj Bhavan on Friday. After a 10-year hiatus, the DMK, along with Stalin, returned to power for the sixth time in their history and won a 2021 assembly election to win a majority on their own.

68-year-old Stalin came to the Raj Bhavan around 9 am wearing a white shirt and dhoti.

Governor Banwarilal Purohit administered the oath of office and secrecy to Stalin.

The Governor also administered the oath to 33 other MPs as ministers.
Thursday, Purohit released the list of MPs who will be appointed as ministers and their departments.

Stalin’s cabinet also includes two women ministers.

The Chief Minister’s son Udhayanidhi Stalin who won from Chepak Thiruvallikeni constituency has not been included in the cabinet.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Stalin’s wife Durga, son Udhayanidhi and other family members, former deputy chief minister and AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam, leaders of Congress and other parties.
