CM of Karnataka arrives in Delhi to meet Modi, BJP leaders

New Delhi | Newly-appointed Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai arrived in the national capital on Friday to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party’s central leadership to discuss cabinet expansion.

Bommai will meet the Prime Minister, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda.

According to sources, “It is a courtesy visit to the national capital during which Bommai will discuss his cabinet expansion with the central leadership. Bommai also discussed issues related to development in the state and the COVID situation during his meeting with Prime Minister Modi. There is a possibility of discussion.”

Sources said he would meet Prime Minister Modi, Shah, Nadda and others later in the day. This is Bommai’s first visit to Delhi after taking oath as the Chief Minister of Karnataka. Former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa had resigned on July 26.

Bommai had said on Thursday that he was going to Delhi, where he would meet Prime Minister Modi, Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Nadda to seek their blessings.

Bommai had also indicated that cabinet expansion would be discussed with the party’s central leadership.
