Congress trying to strengthen its base in Western UP through Kisan Panchayat

New Delhi| The Congress has been trying to strengthen its base in western Uttar Pradesh, which has been a BJP stronghold since 2014. The Congress is now looking to strengthen its hold in the region by organizing Kisan Panchayat. Taking a step forward in this direction, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is scheduled to address a Kisan Panchayat in Baghra on Saturday and Mathura on 23 February.

The Congress has divided the 27 districts of the state into three regions. Ajay Lallu, Aradhana Mishra Mona and Deepak Singh have been entrusted with the responsibility of securing the support of the people in these districts respectively.

Preparations are on to field leaders of several states including Hardik Patel from Gujarat and Navjot Singh Sidhu from Punjab.

In order to highlight the plight of farmers, Congress has started block-level meetings and in this episode Priyanka Gandhi addressed a Kisan Panchayat in Bijnor on 15 February.

State Congress President Ajay Kumar Lallu said, “Not only Priyanka, but all the leaders have been tasked to highlight the issues of farmers and we will stand with the farmers till the agricultural laws are withdrawn. . ”

Priyanka Gandhi is also raising the issue of farmers with great vigor in all her speeches.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reiterated her support for the farmers and criticized the central government saying that those who cannot pay the cost of sugarcane will not understand the cost of human life.

Addressing a Kisan Panchayat in Chandpur, Priyanka said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spent Rs 16,000 crore to buy two aircraft for himself.

He said, “With this money, the entire sugarcane of the farmers could be paid. The Prime Minister has money to travel, but not for the farmers. These agricultural laws will enable the capitalists to replenish their coffers, but the farmers have to pay the minimum Support price will not be found. ”

He further said, “I have not come here to give a speech. I have come here to talk to you. You have trusted Narendra Modi twice because you thought he would bring prosperity through his policies. But is that so Has happened?” Your faith has been shattered because the Prime Minister has no money for you. ”

Addressing a Kisan Panchayat at Chilkhana in the Saharanpur district, he said, “When the Congress comes to power again, we will immediately repeal these agricultural laws. We will also ensure MSP for all farmers.”
