Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party councillors protest at Municipal Commissioner’s office

New Delhi, April 16 . Councillors of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday staged a strong protest at the Municipal Commissioner’s office in Civic Center, demanding exemption in house tax and implementation of the proposal to make 12 thousand temporary employees of the Municipal Corporation permanent.

All AAP councillors, led by Delhi Mayor Mahesh Kumar and Leader of the House Mukesh Goyal, reached the office of Municipal Commissioner Ashwani Kumar to meet him, but he had already left the office.

Mahesh Kumar alleged that he was already informed that AAP councillors were coming to meet him, yet they deliberately made an excuse and left. Mayor Mahesh Kumar said that proposals regarding exemption in house tax and regularization of 12 thousand employees have been passed in the corporation, but the Municipal Commissioner is not implementing them yet.

He said that these proposals passed in the interest of the public should be implemented with immediate effect. The Municipal Commissioner has imposed user charges on the people of Delhi without the approval of the House and the knowledge of the Mayor.

He said that Aam Aadmi Party opposes this and demands that this additional charge be withdrawn immediately. The Municipal Commissioner has taken this decision at the behest of BJP, so that Aam Aadmi Party can be defamed.

AAP councillors also waited for the Municipal Commissioner sitting in the office, but when he did not return, the councillors registered their protest by raising slogans and returned from there.

Mahesh Kumar said that the public is already troubled by inflation and tax burden and now their problems have increased further due to user charges.

He reiterated that Aam Aadmi Party will continue to fight for the rights of the people and their movement will continue until the proposals are implemented.
