New Delhi: The election of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Standing Committee members of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is being held at the civic center of the MCD amid tight security. In the last two meetings of the MCD House, there was a huge ruckus between the AAP and the BJP corporators. Heavy security has been deployed inside the MCD Sadan and in the Civic Center premises to ensure that there is no ruckus in Monday’s meeting. Significantly, the election of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Standing Committee members is being held at the MCD Sadan, located in the Civic Center of Delhi. On Sunday, all the councilors of the Aam Aadmi Party wrote a letter to Protem Speaker Satya Sharma and appealed not to give voting rights to the nominated councilors. There is a possibility of an uproar in the MCD House even today regarding the voting rights of the nominated councilors. In view of the apprehension of this ruckus, heavy police force and security forces have been deployed in the MCD Sadan and Civic Center premises.
Let us tell you that due to the uproar in the MCD meeting held on January 6 and 24 earlier, the election of the mayor could not be held. On January 24, all the councilors took an oath. But after that, there was a ruckus in the MCD house between the councilors of AAP and BJP.
All the 135 councilors of the Aam Aadmi Party have written a letter to the presiding officer Satya Sharma yesterday. In the letter, all the councilors of the AAP party have demanded to ban the nominated councilors from voting in the elections for mayor, deputy mayor and standing committee members to be held today.
