New Delhi | The number of active COVID cases in the national capital has dropped below the 5,000 marks for the first time since March 24. 4,962 active cases were registered on Tuesday. Amid a decrease in daily new coronavirus infections over the past few weeks, the national capital recorded 316 new cases on Tuesday, health officials said. With this, the daily Covid infection rate came down to 0.44 percent.
According to the Delhi government’s health bulletin, there were 41 Covid deaths in the national capital during the same period. The total death toll now stands at 24,668. A total of 521 Covid infected people have been cured in the last 24 hours in the capital.
The number of Covid patients living in home isolation has also come down below the 2,000 marks. On Tuesday, 1,795 patients are reported to be in-home isolation.
On Monday, 231 new cases and 36 Covid deaths were reported in the national capital.
According to the Delhi Corona App, ICU beds with ventilators are vacant in all government hospitals in Delhi. Of the 2,553 ICU beds with ventilators for critical COVID patients available in Delhi, 1,882 were vacant as of Tuesday evening.
