DMRC MD orders officials to inspect all Pink Line stations

New Delhi,. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Managing Director Vikas Kumar issued instructions on Friday to inspect the security wall of all elevated stations on the Pink Line.

A part of the boundary wall of Gokulpuri metro station in north-east Delhi collapsed on Thursday, killing a 53-year-old man and injuring four others. The order was placed a day later.

Vikas Kumar held a review meeting with department heads on Friday regarding the incident. “If any corrective action is required at any station, then action should be taken only after giving a detailed explanation based on the condition of the respective sites,” Vikas Kumar said.

It also ordered that if any repair and maintenance work needs to be done at any station, it should be done with minimum inconvenience to passengers and the public. All necessary safety precautions should be taken.

DMRC has already started the internal review. Vikas Kumar had visited Gokulpuri station on Thursday evening along with other senior officials to take stock of the situation.

DMRC had announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 25 lakh to the family of the deceased, who has been identified as Vinod Kumar, a resident of Karawal Nagar. Vikas Kumar had also said that DMRC has decided to give compensation of Rs 1 lakh for minor injuries and Rs 5 lakh for those seriously injured.
