ED demands extension of judicial custody of CM Kejriwal

New Delhi, The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday asked a special court here to extend the judicial custody of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by 14 days on the expiry of the Supreme Court’s interim bail order on June 2.

The Supreme Court had ordered the release of CM Kejriwal on interim bail till June 1 in the money laundering case related to the liquor scam and directed him to surrender on June 2.

The Supreme Court had reserved its verdict on CM Kejriwal’s petition challenging his arrest and subsequent remand by the ED in the case.

It said that despite the fact that the Supreme Court has reserved judgment in the case, he can approach the trial court for regular bail.

During the hearing, a bench of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta said that its order stipulated a deadline for the “release and surrender” of CM Kejriwal.
