Srinagar | The high altitude areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh received the first snowfall of the season on Monday as the minimum temperatures dropped in both the union territories. The Meteorological Department said that there was snowfall in Zojila Pass, Gulmarg ski resort, and other high-altitude areas.
“The minimum temperature fell across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The minimum temperature in Srinagar was 9.8 degrees Celsius, Pahalgam 6.7 and Gulmarg 1.5 degrees Celsius. It was 5.6 in Leh and 3.1 in Dras city,” the office said.
Meanwhile, Jammu recorded the minimum night temperature at 20.1, Katra 15.8, Batote 9.1, Banihal 8.0 and Bhaderwah 9.2.
“The weather is likely to improve in the afternoon as a Western Disturbance (WD) currently active over Jammu and Kashmir is moving north-westerly,” an official of the Meteorological Department said.
