Ranchi The Governor of Jharkhand has decided to abolish the assembly membership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The Election Commission will issue a notice to disqualify him. It is expected that Chief Minister Hemant Soren may resign in the next few hours. After this, he can again take the oath of the post of CM by handing over the letter of support of the MLAs to the Governor. The situation is not clear whether Hemant Soren can contest further elections or not. This has not been officially confirmed by the Raj Bhavan. Experts say that the ruling coalition has sufficient strength in the assembly, so there is technically no problem in forming the government again. As soon as the Governor’s decision is received, a meeting of the MLAs and top leaders of the UPA alliance is held in the CM House. All the MLAs have been asked to stay in Ranchi at any cost. With Hemant Soren resigning, he will stake claim to form the government again.
Let us tell you that this crisis in the assembly membership of Hemant Soren was due to the reason that he had taken a stone quarry on lease with an area of 88 discs in his name in Angada, Ranchi while being the Chief Minister. The BJP had complained to the governor calling it a case of violation of the Office of Profit and Representation of the People Act. The Governor had sought the opinion of the Election Commission on this. The commission issued notices to the complainant and Hemant Soren and sought their response in this matter and after hearing the sides of both, the Election Commission had on Thursday sent to the Raj Bhavan the recommendation to cancel his assembly membership.
