India is a land of opportunities, driven by both technology and humanity: Prime Minister Modi

New Delhi, May 16 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday described India as a land of opportunities, saying the country is progressing on the strength of both technology and humanity.

Addressing the Indian diaspora in The Hague, the Prime Minister said that at a time when the world is facing many challenges, India is emerging as a key force in innovation, economic growth, and global cooperation.

He said, “India is a land of opportunities, driven by both technology and humanity.”

Referring to the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing conflicts across the world, the Prime Minister said, “This decade is becoming a decade of challenges for the world.”

He stressed the need for strong international coordination and partnership to address emerging geopolitical and economic uncertainties.

The Prime Minister said, “India and the Netherlands are continuously expanding cooperation in important areas such as energy security and water security.”

He further stated that the two countries can work more closely globally and collaborate to achieve major international projects.

Referring to India’s growing economic engagement with Europe, the Prime Minister said that the proposed India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) will further strengthen relations between the two sides.

He said, “The Netherlands can become a natural gateway for Indian businesses looking to expand into Europe.”

The Prime Minister also commended the role of the Indian diaspora in strengthening bilateral relations, noting that this community serves as a trusted bridge between the two countries and contributes significantly to enhancing people-to-people ties and economic cooperation.

Addressing the enthusiastic Indian community, the Prime Minister said that the love and enthusiasm he received there made him feel as if he were participating in an Indian celebration.

He said, “Seeing so much love and enthusiasm, I momentarily forgot that I was in the Netherlands.” The Prime Minister further stated that The Hague has now become a living symbol of India-Netherlands friendship.
