Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay will retain Home and Police portfolios.

Chennai, May 16 Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has retained key portfolios such as Home, Public Administration, and Police. The formal allocation of portfolios among the ministers sworn in on May 10 has been completed, marking a significant step towards establishing the administrative structure of the new government.

Based on the Chief Minister’s recommendations, Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar approved the allocation of portfolios.

With this departmental allocation, completed less than a week after the government’s formation, the Vijay government is now moving forward to finalize its administrative structure and policy priorities.

The allocation of portfolios clearly indicates that the government intends to retain direct control over law and order and administrative matters, while development and regional responsibilities have been divided among other ministers.

Chief Minister Vijay will hold key portfolios such as Public Administration, Police, Home, Special Program Implementation, Women Welfare, Youth Welfare, Child Welfare, Senior Citizens and Disabled Welfare, Municipal Administration, and Urban Water Supply. This will place several influential state departments directly under his control.

N. Anand has been assigned the Rural Development and Water Resources Department, which includes irrigation projects and poverty alleviation programs.

Adhav Arjun has been given the responsibility of the Public Works and Sports Development Department, while K.G. Arunraj will handle the Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare Department.

Senior leader K.A. Sengottaiyan has been given the Finance Department along with the responsibility of Pensions and Pension Allowances.

P. Venkataramanan will handle the Food and Civil Supplies Department, while R. Nirmalkumar has been given the Energy Resources and Law Department. He will also have responsibility for Electricity, Courts, Prisons, and Legislative Affairs.

Rajamohan has been assigned the School Education, Tamil Development, and Information and Public Relations Departments. T.K. Prabhu will handle the Natural Resources and Mining departments.

Selvi S. Keerthana, the youngest member of the cabinet, has been assigned the Industry and Investment Promotion Department.

With the division of departments complete, the Vijay government will now focus on policy implementation, administrative reorganization, and preparations for the first full assembly session.
