Jija-Sala Jodi’ of desperate snatchers arrested by the staff of PS Kirti Nagar

New Delhi: A team of police station Kirti Nagar has done a commendable work by arresting, two accused persons, who are involved in cases of Robbery/Snatchings. Both are relatives and are known as Jija-Sala among area criminals. Accused Veeru @ Nepali is previously involved in 12 cases and accused Monu @ Jujjar is previously involved in 07 cases. 01.02.2024, complainant stated that, three persons on a highspeed motorcycle snatched his gold chain at near Vijay Dhaba, Industrial area Kirti Nagar. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 106/24 u/s 356/379/34 IPC was registered and investigation was taken up.
On registration of the case, the dedicated of PS Kirti Nagar led by Insp. Sanjeev Dhodi SHO/Kirti nagar and comprising HC Khema Ram, HC Parambir, HC Vikas, HC Sandeep, Ct Naveen and Ct Rohit under the close supervision of Sh. S.S. Rathi ACP/Punjabi Bagh, immediately swung into action and analyzed the CCTV footages of different locations. One CCTV camera covered the glimpse of the criminals on a grey colour Honda Shine M/cycle. The M/cycle was tracked through other CCTV cameras installed in the locality but registration number of the M/cycle couldn’t be identified.
The team continuously made efforts and further started tracking the snatchers through CCTV Cameras. CCTV footages, amounting to hundreds of hours, from all the available cameras on all possible routes taken by the snatchers were analysed.
After tracking the snatchers approx 15 km, the team reached at Sarai Basti, Sarai Rohilla and on the basis of CCTV Footages, apprehended two snatchers along with one Scooty. On interrogation, they were identified as Veeru @ Nepali S/o Ramesh Kumar R/o Mangolpuri, Delhi, Aged 26 years and Monu @ Gujjar S/o Gopi Chand R/o Mangolpuri, Delhi, Aged 24 years. During interrogation both disclosed their involvement in the abovementioned case along with their associate (CCL). One Honda Shine M/Cycle, used in commission of crime has also been recovered from the house of accused Monu @ Gujjar. At their instance, the receiver of the snatched gold chain, namely Virender Kumar Soni S/o Chhote Lal Soni R/o Ranjeet Nagar, ND has also been apprehended and snatched gold chain has been recovered from his possession. With their arrest, total 07 cases of Robbery/Snatchings have been worked out.  Efforts are being made to ascertain their involvements in other cases.
In the interrogation so far, following details have come, which are subject to verification –
Accused Veeru @ Nepali was born in Jammu and his family came to Delhi in 2002. He is illiterate. He is fond of expensive liquor and needs at least Rs. 1500-2000 cash daily to fund his addiction. To cater for money, he started theft and chain snatchings in the area with his brother in law Monu @ Gujjar and a CCL. Monu rides the bike, CCL sits in middle while he sits behind and actually snatches the chain. He was arrested several times and was released from jail last time on 07/11/2023. After releasing from jail, he worked as heavy labor in Bahadurgarh for some days but that didn’t cater to his expenses. So he again started chain snatching and thefts with his brother in law Monu @ Gujjar and CCL.
