Two desperate snatchers arrested and 44 snatched mobile phone instruments recovered

New Delhi: Police Station Connaught Place has arrested two desperate snatchers namely Rahul @ Badal s/o Sanjay r/o Multani Dhanda, Pahar Ganj, New Delhi and, Sameer s/o Sabir r/o Brahampuri, Seelampur, Delhi.

44 snatched mobile phone instruments along with one stolen motorcycle used for commission of crime have been recovered.

On 28.03.2022, Sh. Atul Palllah s/o Sh. Angad Raj reported that his mobile phone has been snatched by two persons riding on a motorcycle. A case vide FIR No. 77/2022, dated 24.03.2022, u/s 356/379/34 IPC was registered at Police Station Connaught Place, New Delhi and investigation was taken up.

A team consisting of SI Akhileshwar, HC Rampal, Ct. Rajenderm & Ct. Mohit was constituted under the direct supervision of Inspr. Upender Singh, SHO/Connaught Place and overall supervision of Sh. Vinay Mathur, ACP/Connaught Place to nab the criminals. During investigation, footages of nearly 75 CCTVs were obtained and analysed. Entry and exit route map of criminals were prepared. The photographs of criminals and the vehicle were developed and circulated to all field staff of the district. Based on route adopted by the criminals, pickets were made operational at strategic locations.

The district staff toiled hard and their persistence paid dividend. On the same day, the picket staff deployed at the Chelmsford Picket tried to stop two motorcycle riders having suspected appearance. The criminals tried to run away from the spot. However, due to the alertness of the staff, they could not succeed and were caught by the police.

On verification, the recovered vehicle was found to be stolen from the jurisdiction of Police Station Khyala and e-FIR No. 6902/22, u/s 379 IPC was found registered in this regard. On interrogation, the bikers were identified as Rahul @ Badal (Rider) and Sameer (Pillion Rider). On sustained interrogation, they disclosed commission of several incidents of snatching/robbery in last six months across Delhi & NCR region.

During interrogation, accused person disclosed their involvement in more than 50 cases. Case property of 18 cases have been linked with the respective FIRs. Investigation about remaining recovered case properties is being done.

ACCUSED PROFILE:

Rahul @ Badal s/o Sanjay

The accused is an absent bad character (BC) of PS Paharganj, Central district. He is a habitual criminal and is involved in multiple cases of theft & snatching of mobile phones.

  1. Sameer s/o Sabir –

He is a habitual criminal and involved in multiple cases of theft & snatching of mobile phones. Sameer’s notoriety had gained him the moniker ‘Harry Potter’. He also used to purchase stolen/robbed mobile phone instruments form other criminals.

RECOVERY:

44 snatched mobile phones and one stolen motorcycle have been recovered from the possession of Rahul and Sameer. Following cases have been worked out with the recovery of articles: –

  6. Oppo A-31 mobile phone – recovered in FIR No. 76/22, u/s 379 IPC, PS Vikas Puri
  7. Vivo mobile phone – recovered in FIR No. 156/22, u/s 379 IPC, PS Khyala
