Kejriwal is the kingpin of excise policy scam, not cooperating in investigation: ED

New Delhi The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday claimed before a Delhi court that state Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, arrested on Thursday night, is the mastermind of the alleged excise policy scam and was directly involved in implementing the policy and obliging the ‘right group’. Were. The agency sought his remand from the court for questioning.

CM Kejriwal was produced in Rouse Avenue Court today. Earlier he had withdrawn his petition filed before the Supreme Court.

Additional Solicitor General S.V., appearing for the ED, along with special counsel Zoheb Hussain. Raju demanded 10 days’ custody, saying that Kejriwal was not cooperating in the investigation. “We want to gather information and interrogate them,” he said.

He argued that the CM was “involved in the use of proceeds of crime”, and had demanded bribes from a “group from the right” in return for favors to them.

This ‘group of the south’ includes those accused, about whom the ED claims that AAP leaders had received a bribe of Rs 100 crore from them. These include Sarath Reddy, Raghava Magunta and Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy. Last week, the ED booked Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Telangana Legislative Council member K for allegedly being part of this group. Kavita was arrested.

“Proceeds of crime amounting to approximately Rs 45 crore received from the group from the South were used by the Aam Aadmi Party in the Goa Assembly election campaign in 2021-22,” ASG Raju said. He said the proceeds of crime were not only the bribe of Rs 100 crore but also the profits earned by the bribe givers.

“Aam Aadmi Party is a beneficiary, but it does not exist as an individual. It is a company. Every person involved in the functioning of the company is responsible and will be held guilty,” he said.

CM Kejriwal was arrested after more than two hours of questioning at his official residence in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam. The Chief Minister remained in the ED jail overnight before being produced in the Rouse Avenue court on Friday.

Senior advocates Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Vikram Chaudhary and Ramesh Gupta, appearing for Kejriwal, have filed an application to dismiss the remand application.

Notably, Kejriwal was taken out of the court amid heavy security after his blood pressure dropped in the middle of the hearing.

Speaking to the media present in the court, Kejriwal said, “Whether I am outside the jail or inside the jail, my life is dedicated to the country.” This was his first statement after his arrest by ED.

Apart from this, a PIL has also been filed in the Delhi High Court demanding the removal of Kejriwal from the post of Chief Minister of Delhi.
