NDMC School Science Labs: LG inaugurates 41 Science labs in 21 NDMC schools

Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena inaugurated 41 Science Labs of 21 Schools renovated by New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) to foster Scientific Temper among students at Atal Adarsh Bengali Balika Vidyalaya, Gole Market, New Delhi. These science labs, equipped with advanced infrastructure and resources, aim at fostering a scientific temper among the students at an early age.

Chief Secretary, Delhi Shri Naresh Kumar, Chairman–NDMC Shri Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, Vice chairman Shri Satish Upadhyay, Member of Council Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal and other senior officers were present on the occasion.

After inaugurating the science labs of NDMC Schools, Shri Saxena congratulated 6700 students of 21 NDMC schools who will be benefitted by the 41 Science labs and underlined that this is an era of science and without science and scientific temper, no step forward for socio-economic and human advancement could be envisaged.

He hoped that these labs will become crucibles of experimentation and innovation and evolve as milestones in the field of education not only in the NDMC area but the entire Delhi.

Recalling the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s stress on educating a girl child, the LG said that the education of a girl child leads to educating the whole family and in turn educating the entire society, as indeed the Nation.

He also stressed upon the importance of extracurricular activities – sports, arts, music etc. for the overall development of every student, apart from regular studies.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary suggested steps to further improve the quality of education in NDMC Schools. He called for distribution of tabs to every student to make them digitally empowered. He further suggested that after school hours the infrastructure of NDMC Schools may be used as skill development centres for girls and women. They may make the computer labs of NDMC schools accessible to nearby poor students. For development of sports activities in schools, NDMC should collaborate with Sports Authority of India because NDMC has the best sports infrastructure in its schools. He recalled his memories with the NDMC and appreciated the achievements of the NDMC for bringing Navyug school at par with any elite private schools in Delhi.

Chairman – NDMC Shri B.S Bhalla informed that an assessment is being carried out by NDMC to evaluate the requirement of each and every school on the parameters of infrastructure, manpower, quality of education, etc. After receiving the assessment reports, NDMC will fulfill the requirements of schools for qualitative education better future of its students. He also informed that 99% result had been achieved by students of Class X and XII in the NDMC schools.

On the occasion, Hon’ble LG felicitated all meritorious students with certificates and a prize of ten thousand rupees each to those who scored the best result in their board examinations. Earlier, LG- Delhi visited and inaugurated labs of Atal Adarsh Bengali Balika Vidyalaya and interacted with students.
