New Delhi : National Sports Day in India is celebrated on 29th of August, on the Jayanti (birth anniversary) of hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand. He was a legendary figure in Indian and world hockey.
The department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports(MYAS), Government of India has decided to celebrate this year’s National sports day through pan -India sports events, on 29th August 2022, with the theme of ” Sports as a an enabler for an inclusive and fit society”
Teams of Northern Railway Headquarter led by Sh. Ashutosh Gangal, General Manager and Delhi Division led by Sh. Dimpy Garg, Divisional Railway Manager teams took part in sports like Volleyball, Walkathon, Tug of War and Boxing with zeal and enthusiasm at Karnail Singh Stadium, New Delhi. Ms. Sakshi Malik, Commonwealth Games 2022 Gold Medallist in Wrestling (62 kg. Category) was also present on the occasion. Northern Railway Headquarters team led by Sh. Ashutosh Gangal, General Manager, Northern Railway won the overall Championship.
