New Delhi: The Congress on Saturday took a dig at the BJP government at the Centre, saying all ministers used to visit Manipur before the assembly elections, but after the violence, only the Union home minister visited the state, but with no concrete results.
The Congress also said that earlier former party chief Rahul Gandhi had visited Manipur and now a delegation of the Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (India) is in Manipur to hear stories of pain, suffering, and terror from both communities while appealing for peace.
Taking a dig at the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre, Congress general secretary in-charge of communications Jairam Ramesh wrote on Twitter: “Until the 2022 assembly elections in the state, the NDA’s central minister will visit Manipur every week and sometimes every other day.” used to visit.”
The Rajya Sabha MP wrote, “Since the outbreak of caste violence, the Union Home Minister has visited only once, that too after a delay of over a month…with no tangible effect.”
The Congress leader further wrote, “Meanwhile, first Rahul Gandhi went and now a delegation of 20 Team India MPs is in Manipur – listening to stories of pain, suffering and terror from both communities, taking stock of the situation and Appealing people for peace.”
His remarks came after a delegation of 21 MPs from 16 parties of India reached Imphal on Saturday on a two-day visit to violence-hit Manipur.
