New Delhi, May 05: New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Chairman, Shri Keshav Chandra launched a citywide Mega Cleanliness Drive as ‘Shramdan’, for all 14 Sanitation Circles today. The Vice Chairman – NDMC, Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal leads the NDMC staff in the cleanliness drive at Hanuman Mandir Complex, Council Member, Shri Dinesh Pratap Singh at Lodhi Colony, Shri Anil Valmiki at Mandir Marg area and Smt. Sarita Tomar at Moti Bagh area and also participated with NDMC staff members along with area RWAs, MTAs and social organisations.
The cleanliness initiative included all NDMC employees about 9500 from every department, participated in morning simultaneously across the New Delhi area. In addition to it, sanitation workers, Horticulture, Fire Service, Civil and Electrical Engineering staff participated on field. Hospitals, Dispensaries, Schools and Electric Substations carried out sanitation drive in their own premises.
On the occasion of launching of ‘Shramdan’ initiative, Shri Keshav Chandra motivated the NDMC workforce for participating in this noble cause to make NDMC area neat, clean and green and said that Cleanliness is on the top priority of our Hon’ble Prime Minister and he launched Swachh Bharat Mission. Now, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi have called for one hour of ‘Shramdan’ every morning for 20 days to make Delhi clean, neat, green and healthy.
He informed that NDMC has engaged all its employees of different departments along with its own sanitation workers in this Shramdan Campaign for cleanliness in its area.
This campaign is being run simultaneously in 14 sanitation circles of the NDMC area with the cooperation of employees and members of the local Market Traders Association and Residential Welfare Association.
Shri Keshav Chandra stressed upon the community participation in the Shramdan Campaign and said that Swachhata Movement cannot be made successful only by the employees of the Municipal Council, but active participation of the general public is required in it. Unless everyone develops sensitivity towards cleanliness, the success of this campaign will remain incomplete.
On behalf of NDMC, Chairman appealed to all stakeholders as well as general public who visit the NDMC area, to understand their responsibility towards cleanliness and participate in this Shramdan campaign.
To ensure efficient execution and accountability, 14 Heads of Departments (HODs) have been designated as Nodal Officers, each responsible for one sanitation circle. These officers will coordinate all field activities, supervise staff deployment, monitor sanitation efforts, and ensure daily reporting and compliance in the field.
