On the theme of “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) in coordination with Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India observed International Day of Yoga at 08 prominent locations including other locations like Parks, Gardens, Working Women Hostels, Old Age Home, RWAs/MTAs area. Around 10,000 participants performed the common protocol of yoga on the occasion.
The main events were organized by NDMC at 08 prominent locations like Nehru Park, Lodhi Garden, Talkatora Garden, Kartavya Path, New Moti Bagh – Residential Complex, Sanjay Jheel – Lakshmi Bai Nagar, Singapore Park and Central Park – Connaught Place in New Delhi.
On the occasion, Chairperson – NDMC, Shri Amit Yadav, Vice Chairperson – Shri Satish Upadhyay, Member – Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal and Smt. Vishakha Shailani, other Head of Departments and staff participated and performed common yoga protocol.
NDMC collaborated with Art of Living, Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Gayatri Parivar, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, Isha Yoga Centre, The Yoga Institute, Akhil Bhartiya Yoga Shikshak Mahasangh and Bhartiya Yog Sansthan for the success of the International Day of Yoga 2023 in New Delhi area.
NDMC arranged the live telecast of recorded messages by the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s of India and address by Hon’ble Vice- President of India from Jabalpur on LED screens at eight venues of Yoga Protocol.
In order to facilitate wider participation in the celebration of International Day of Yoga and make the program successful, NDMC made necessary arrangements of civic and basic amenities including potable water, mobile toilets, ambulance and first-aid desk along with providing Yoga mats and T-shirts. NDMC deployed around 1000 manpower under the supervision of around 15 nodal officers at all 08 locations.
NDMC had also rope up the event from 17th June to 20th June by organizing Yoga Build Camps at Nehru Park, Talkatora Garden and Lodhi Garden in association with partner yoga institutions for successful organization of International Day of Yoga 2023.
