NDMC Organises Basic Life Support training Program for its ground-level staff

New Delhi: As the Safai Karamchari is early in the field for work therefore can be the first point of contact for the morning walkers or citizens in case of need for help including cardiac-related problems which are more observed in the morning, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC)  has started a training programme for its Safai Karamchari on the basic life support in emergency situations like basic aspects of First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

NDMC Chairperson – Shri Dharmendra inaugurated the first phase training program for Safai Karamcharis of NDMC in association with Universal Wellness Foundation at NDMC Convention Centre, Jai Singh Road, New Delhi today.

Inaugurating the training program, Chairperson NDMC said that in the morning time, if anybody faints or feels breathlessness when Doctor, ambulance or hospital are far away from the incident point.  Only ground level field staff of NDMC is the only source of help and if ground-level staff are skilled in the basic life support training, then they can provide instant support till medical aid arrives.

This training would be imparted to the other ground-level field staff like Beldars and Malis with refresher programme from time to time.

Secretary- NDMC, Dr. B.M Mishra said that it is a new initiative for NDMC employees and the training is a useful tool for not only staff but also every person of society as he may need it in an emergency. He further said that the small skill of basic life support is valuable for saving the life of the individual in case of any emergency.

The training programme in the first phase will be provided to the 50 Safai Karamcharis and 10 Assistant Sanitary Inspectors of the 14 Health Circles of NDMC.

During the training programme, Safai Karamchari and ASIs were given training for providing first aid in case of noticed emergency in any citizen of NDMC area. This shall facilitate in decreasing the crucial critical time in saving the lives of citizens like fainting and breathlessness observed in ongoing Covid 19 pandemic

On the occasion, Chairperson- NDMC himself participated in the training program to motivate the field staff of NDMC for this noble cause. NDMC  Financial Advisor –  Shri Pushkal Upadhyay, MOH – Dr. Ramesh, CMOs – Dr. Shakuntala, Dr. Gunjan Sahay and Dr. Vijay Patel and Advisor (Public Health), Dr. D.K Sharma along with the staff of Health Department were present in the program and also participated in the training of CPR.
