New Delhi| Chief Justice of India (CJI) nominated Justice U.U. Lalit indicated during the hearing in the Amrapali case on Monday that the work would not be over as he is due to retire in November, and a new bench may have to be constituted to hear the matter. During the hearing in the matter, Justice Lalit said that the matter has started from the court of the Chief Justice and it will go to the court of the Chief Justice, while the next hearing of the matter will take place on September 3. Justice Lalit will take over as the Chief Justice of India on August 27.
The apex court in its defense, in defense of thousands of Amrapali home buyers, had ensured that their flats are constructed and they get possession. With the apex court hearing the Amrapali case for nearly four years, Justice Lalit remarked that the work would not be finished as he had indicated his retirement which is scheduled in November this year.
The apex court ensured that the dreams of Amrapali homebuyers do not get shattered, and ensured funding for stalled Amrapali projects, as a consortium of seven banks gave final approval to an investment of Rs 1,500 crore to complete unfinished housing projects. Gave.
In July 2019, the Supreme Court, in its judgment, reprimanded the real estate firm for breaching the confidence of home buyers and granted relief to over 42,000 home buyers. The top court ordered the quashing of the Amrapali Group’s registration under the real estate law RERA and ensured the construction of stalled housing projects.
It appointed a receiver, senior advocate R Venkataramani, to oversee the construction and directed the state-run National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) to complete the housing projects.
