PM should focus on media crisis: Asif

New Delhi : National president of All India Minority Front (AIMF)Mr SM Asif said that the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi should focus on media that facing threat to livelihood because of the lockdown in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.

He said the various journalist unions have already urged the Prime Minister for help because the situation will only worsen in coming days.

The AIMF chief has demanded 100 % increase in advertisement rate, setting up of high level committee and National Media Commission, immediate announcement of relief package for regional newspapers and compulsory government advertisements to web channel, YouTube channel and web portals to tide over the difficult time.

“Journalists patience and resolve is now dissipating because the lockdown poses the threat of starvation before them. The government must come forward to help them financially in this critical situation,” he said.

“If small and medium newspapers collapse, it will have a ripple effect thus affecting large number of employees, their families as well as printing presses, distribution mechanism, newspaper vendors and delivery boys,” he said.

The AIMF also demanded immediate withdrawal of FIR against journalists across the country.
