Prime Minister did yoga with 3 lakh people in Visakhapatnam, also gave the mantra of ‘Heal in India’

Visakhapatnam, June 21  Prime Minister Narendra Modi did yoga with 3 lakh people and diplomats from 40 countries in Visakhapatnam. Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu also participated in this grand event. The theme of yoga this time is ‘Yoga for one earth, one health’.

From the stage, PM Modi described yoga to the world as a collective effort taken for the welfare of humanity. PM Modi said that yoga means to connect. And it is pleasant to see how yoga has connected the whole world.

PM Modi further said, “Such unity and such support is not a normal thing in today’s world. This was not just support for a proposal. Rather it was a collective effort of the world for the welfare of humanity.”

The Prime Minister said that unfortunately the world is going through tension, unrest and instability. These situations are continuously increasing in many areas. In such times, yoga shows us the path to peace. Yoga is like the ‘pause button’ that humanity needs – so that we can stop, breathe, balance and feel complete again.

Prime Minister Modi drew attention to the research being done on yoga. He said, to spread yoga in the world, India is further strengthening the science of yoga through modern research. Big medical institutions of the country are engaged in research on yoga. It is our effort that the scientific nature of yoga gets a place in modern medical system.

Underlining the commendable step of AIIMS, he said, “We are also promoting evidence-based therapy in the field of yoga. Delhi AIIMS has done commendable work in this direction. AIIMS research has revealed that yoga has an important role in the treatment of cardiac and neurological diseases. Along with this, yoga has also been found to have an important contribution in women’s health and mental health.”

Referring to Heal in India, PM Modi said, “Today the mantra of ‘Heal in India’ is also becoming very popular in the world. India is becoming a base destination. Yoga has a big role in this. A common protocol has been created for yoga. 5.5 lakh trained volunteers are creating a holistic eco-system in 130 institutions. E-Ayush visas are being given so that people from all over the world can benefit from this wellness eco-system of India.”

PM Modi described this year’s theme as reflecting the truth. He said that the theme of this year’s International Yoga Day is – ‘Yoga for one earth, one health’. This theme reflects a deep truth: the health of everything on earth is interconnected. Human well-being depends on the health of the soil in which our food grows, on the rivers that give us water, on the animals that are part of our ecosystem, and on the trees and plants that nourish us. Yoga makes us realise this interconnectedness, takes us to oneness with the world and teaches us that we do not exist alone, we are part of nature.
