New Delhi, The Supreme Court on Tuesday banned ‘bulldozer action’. This order was given while hearing the petitions filed against ‘bulldozer action’. The Supreme Court has said in its order that no demolition will be done in the country till October 1 without permission except in the case of encroachment on public road or railway or water bodies.
Also, the Supreme Court has asked the Solicitor General (SG) to stop glorifying bulldozer action. He said that the work of glorifying the bulldozer has been done. If you want to demolish a temple or gurudwara or mosque located on a public road or railway line, then we will agree with you, but in any other case it will not be accepted.
A division bench of Justice BR Gavai and Justice KV Vishwanathan asked the Center to ensure compliance with the laws and procedures of the Municipal Corporation.
However, the Solicitor General (SG) objected to the order. He said that notices were issued in various states in the last three months. I cannot ask the whole country to do this. On this, Justice Gavai said that I am passing such an order under Article 142 of the Constitution. Why can’t you stop your hands for two weeks?
The Solicitor General said, “Please say in the order that no demolition action will be taken without following the procedure.” On this, Justice KV Vishwanathan said, “If there is even a single case of illegal demolition, then it is against constitutional values. If you stop your hands, the sky will not fall. You can wait for a week.”
The next hearing of this case will be on October 1.
