Supreme Court rejects review petition filed by Manish Sisodia against denial of bail

New Delhi. The Supreme Court has rejected the review petition filed by former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia against the denial of bail in the alleged liquor policy scam case.

Justices Sanjeev Khanna and S.V.N. Bhatti’s bench, in its order passed on Wednesday, said, “We have carefully studied the review petitions and the grounds in support thereof. In our opinion, no case for review of the judgment dated 30.10.2023 is made out. Accordingly, the review petitions are dismissed.””

The bench refused to hear the review petition orally and dismissed it in the chamber by circulation.

Generally, review petitions filed under Article 137 of the Constitution are examined on very narrow grounds, such as errors of law, obvious errors in record, etc.

On October 30, the apex court refused to grant bail to the senior Aam Aadmi Party leader facing corruption and money laundering charges. While delivering the judgment, it had said that even though many questions remain unanswered, one aspect regarding the transfer of Rs 338 crore is provisionally established.

However, the Supreme Court directed that Sisodia’s trial be completed within six to eight months and also said that if the trial progresses slowly in the next three months, he can apply for fresh bail. Are.

Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on 26 February this year and by the ED on 9 March.
