The ‘survey formula’ is becoming a problem for ticket claimants in MP

Bhopal. The number of contenders in the assembly elections to be held in Madhya Pradesh remains a challenge for the political parties. Therefore, both the major political parties Congress and BJP have decided to adopt the formula of the survey. These decisions of the party have deepened the lines of worry on the foreheads of the contenders.

The assembly elections in the state to be held later this year are not going to be easy for both the political parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress. The party leadership is aware of this, so it has made up its mind to place bets on only those candidates who will win the elections. This is the reason that both the political parties are conducting assembly bar survey at their own level.

In the 2018 assembly elections in the state, out of 230 assembly seats, the Congress had won 114, while the BJP came down to 109. Congress did not get absolute majority, but with the support of Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and independent MLAs, its government was formed. The Congress government lasted for about 15 months and due to mutual tussle, 22 MLAs under the leadership of Jyotiraditya Scindia joined the BJP and due to this the government led by Kamal Nath fell.

Keeping in mind the results of the 2018 assembly elections and the subsequent urban body elections, both the political parties are making strides in the coming assembly elections.

At the same time, the claimants are engaged in visiting the party headquarters and politicians from the state capital to Delhi. The leaders of the party are constantly telling these claimants that the party will nominate only those whose names appear in the survey.

All the big leaders of Congress and BJP have accepted that the party is conducting the survey and only the person whose name appears in the survey will be made a candidate. Familyism and patronage of politicians alone will not guarantee ticket, this is also being repeated again and again. At many places, the leaders are sitting together and swearing to the contenders that they will support the candidate whom the party will nominate.

A claimant who has been preparing for the elections for the last three years says that he has been presenting his claim before the party for the last two elections but the party did not make him a candidate. On the other hand, a person patronized by a big politician was made a candidate and he had to face defeat both times.

Now the party is saying that they will give tickets on the basis of the survey, in such a situation, the apprehensions are getting stronger whether the survey will really give the ticket or the person who has the patronage of the leader.
