New Delhi: CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal held a review meeting on the situation of Corona in Delhi on Wednesday and directed the hospitals and authorities to take all preventive measures to contain the spread of Corona. The review meeting was attended by Health Minister Shri Satyendar Jain, along with the Chief Secretary and senior officials of the health department and medical superintendents of the government hospitals, and heads of the private labs in Delhi. Along with directing the authorities to provide all possible help to the hospitals to prevent the spread of infection, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that just like Delhi was able to control Corona with the collective efforts of the two crore people of Delhi, it will be able to do this again with everyone’s support. The high-level review meeting was held to analyze the COVID-19 situation in Delhi days after CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal had directed the authorities to double the testing and also that COVID testing can now be taken by anyone without the requirement of a doctor’s prescription.
Addressing the officials present in the meeting, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, “The Delhi Model of controlling Corona is being discussed widely across the country. We have been able to contain the spread of Corona in Delhi after the efforts of the two crore people of Delhi. I am sure that we will be able to do it this time as well with the people’s support. In the last few days, we have doubled the testing in Delhi and are encouraging everyone to get tested since a doctor’s prescription is no more required to get tested. The tests have been increased from 20000 to 40000 per day. I request everyone to encourage as many people as possible to get tested without any delay. If any hospital is experiencing any issues, they can directly reach me and I will extend all possible help in this regard.”
CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal also directed the secretary and all officers concerned that all state and central govt SOPs should be strictly enforced and there should be no complacency regarding the same. He also directed the heads of the private labs in Delhi to not deny tests for anybody who wants to get tested. He also directed the ambulance services that no calls from patients should be refused and the patients should be transferred to the hospitals if needed as soon as possible. The Corona App should display all information regarding the number of beds and ventilators well-within time to prevent panic among patients.
Delhi has witnessed a slight increase in the number of Corona cases with the starting of various activities since the Unlock guidelines have come to force. Along with this, Delhi is also witnessing a migration of people from other states in search of jobs and livelihoods. Through calls and messages and other modes of communication, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal is directly reaching out to around one crore people of Delhi to aware them of the measures to prevent Corona.
Taking to social media, Shri Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “Had a review meeting with Health Minister, Chief Secretary, senior officials and MS of govt hospitals. I have directed all MS and authorities to take all possible steps to prevent the spread of Corona and assured the hospitals of full support in this regard.”
CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal directed the medical superintendents as well as the authorities that due care should be taken to prevent the spread of disease within the hospital, particularly in OPDs and other places. He also directed the authorities and assured the MS of the full support of the government for this. CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal said to prevent the spread of infection of Corona, the support of health officials, doctors, heads of private labs, and the two crore people of Delhi is required. He assured the hospitals of all possible help if required. He directed the officials to ensure that all precautionary measures such as following social distancing in crowded places and wearing masks are followed.
On the directions of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, the health department of Delhi has taken several steps to reduce the spread of Corona infection inside the hospital premises, whether government or private. For this, committees consisting of senior and highly experienced doctors have been constituted to review the COVID-19 preparations in Delhi hospital. The objective of the committees is to give hospital-wise recommendations to assess adequate medical services inside the hospitals so that there is no spread.
