New Delhi: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will be on an official visit to India from April 21-22. The Ministry of External Affairs said on Sunday that this would be his first visit to India as Prime Minister. According to the information, during the two-day meeting, the British Prime Minister will first come to Ahmedabad on April 21 and then leave for Delhi from there.
According to the ministry statement, “Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, will pay an official visit to India from 21-22 April 2022 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This will be his first visit to India as Prime Minister of the UK.”
During the visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the UK Prime Minister are expected to discuss trade, defense and the Ukraine crisis.
“The Prime Minister will review the implementation of Roadmap 2030 and talk about strengthening bilateral ties. They will also share views on regional and global issues of mutual interest,” the ministry said.
“Prime Minister Johnson will be received at Rashtrapati Bhavan and will hold bilateral consultations with the Prime Minister on April 22. In addition to official engagements in New Delhi, the UK Prime Minister will also visit Gujarat on April 21.”
“India and the UK share a long-standing historical relationship, which was expanded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the India-UK Virtual Summit in 2021,” the ministry said in a statement.
