Bareilly (UP) | In Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly, the mother of youth was first publicly thrashed and then murdered. The girl’s family was unhappy as their daughter had married a 21-year-old boy against their wishes. So the angry girl’s people decided to take revenge on the woman when she was returning home from the market. Then they grabbed him and beat him with sticks and hit him with sickles.
The woman was taken to the hospital by her husband with the help of local people, where she succumbed to her injuries. His son has not returned home yet.
An FIR has been registered against six relatives of the girl under IPC sections related to rioting and culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
According to the information, the victim Chameli Kashyap was a resident of Barua village of Faridpur police station area. She and her husband had earlier left the village for fear of attack after their son eloped with the girl.
She had gone to the village to search her house on Friday.
Additional SP (Rural) Rajkumar Aggarwal said that the victim’s son had absconded with the accused’s daughter, who belongs to the same community. They were both adults and they got married. After marriage, the boy’s parents left the village and settled elsewhere. He had come to his house for a few days at the time of the incident. Her husband informed the police and took her to the Faridpur Community Health Center, where she died during treatment.
“We have registered an FIR against 6 people under sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting with a deadly weapon) and 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC on the basis of her husband’s complaint, she said.
“So far 4 accused have been arrested and the remaining two will be in our custody soon. We have ensured adequate security for the family and police force has been deployed in the village to ensure peace,” the police officer said.
