New Delhi | Within a few days of taking charge as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Tirath Singh Rawat has been surrounded by some of his controversial remarks. She has been trolled for commenting on women wearing torn jeans and comparing PM Narendra Modi with Lord Ram. Not only this, but former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has also questioned him due to the relaxation of Kovid rules in Kumbh Mela in Haridwar. Significantly, on 10 March Tirath Singh Rawat was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. He announced that pilgrims do not need negative reports of the Kovid-19 tests conducted 72 hours before arrival at Haridwar. However, Trivendra Singh Rawat urged the government to be cautious amid rising corona cases in the country.
While former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat questioned the easing of Kovid-19 rules on the one hand, netizens including political opponents trolled Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat for his two controversial remarks. A comment comparing Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Lord Ram and another comment criticizing women wearing torn jeans.
Senior Congress leader and former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat said that it makes sense to praise your leader (Modi), but it was not right for the Chief Minister to match a human being with Lord Ram or Lord Krishna.
Tirath Singh Rawat in Haridwar had said that Prime Minister Modi will be worshiped like Lord Ram for the good work he has done for the people.
Women of all age groups shared/posted pictures of women wearing ripped jeans on social media in large numbers, trolling Rawat for tattered jeans.
Taking a dig at Chief Minister Rawat, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has tweeted pictures of various BJP leaders including Prime Minister Modi, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in half pants. He tweeted, “Oh my God !!! His knees are showing.”
Wearing ripped jeans, Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha member Priyanka Chaturvedi tweeted, “The culture and values of the country are influenced by men who sit and examine women and their choice. Change your mind, then Chief Minister Rawat ji, then the country will change.”
