NDMC organises Cyclothon from Khan Market and Heritage cum Nature walk in Lodhi Garden

New Delhi: With the aim to celebrate the 75th year of Independence as “Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Chairman- Shri Dharmendra flagged-off a Cyclothon under the theme of Freedom 2 cycle and walk from Khan Market, New Delhi this morning in the presence of Secretary-NDMC, Dr. B.M Mishra.

NDMC dedicated this cyclothon to commemorate the 75th Year of Independence celebrations, which was participated by hundreds of cyclists. The cycle riders cover the 8 kilometer cycle track corridor. The route of the cyclothon covered Khan Market, Amrita Shergill Marg, Lodhi Garden, Max Mullar Marg, Subramanian Bharti Marg and culminated again at Khan Market, New Delhi.

While addressing the Cycle Riders, NDMC- Chairman, Shri Dharmendra said that this cyclothon under the “Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” is a celebration of freedom from lifestyle and disease and to create awareness about the fitness of body and mind through the Cycle riding.

He further underlined the importance of cycle riding and said that it is a most important activity for not only our fitness, healthy body and nourishment for mind but also healthy journey for environment of our city by reducing pollution and make it eco- friendly.

The Chairman-NDMC informed that NDMC has initiated a move towards Cycle4Change by a dedicated cycle corridor of 6 km for unique cycle experience with safety and convenience of cyclists which is from Bikaner House to Jor Bagh Metro Station. He added that NDMC is implementing another dedicated cycle track from New Moti Bagh to North & South Block and Nirmaan Bhawan which is about 11 km long.

Today, NDMC also organised a Heritage cum Nature Walk of 120 minutes duration under the theme of freedom 2 Walk in Lodhi Garden, New Delhi in which 50 girls from NDMC Women Technical Institute participated with morning walkers and joggers to create awareness about our heritage and nature.
