Mumbai| The Maharashtra government announced on Thursday that it has decided to extend the stringent lockdown type restrictions going on across the state by 1 June. The move by the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) government has taken place amid growing Kovid-19 cases and plagues in several districts of the state, although Mumbai and parts of the Mumbai metropolitan area are currently in better condition.
As per the new directives, Mumbai suburban trains will not allow regular passengers but are only engaged in essential services and other pre-notified categories.
In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday, all ministers belonging to the Shiv Sena-Nationalist Congress Party-Congress supported the need to extend the lockout.
After Cabinet approval, Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte issued an official notification this afternoon, extending the lockdown provisions from 7 am on May 15, to 7 am on June 1.
The state has made it mandatory for anyone entering the state by any means of transport to carry the Covid-19 Negative Report, which is issued 48 hours before its arrival.
The government has directed the local disaster management authorities to closely monitor rural markets and APMCs to ensure proper behavior of Covid and, if the rules are not complied with, they are subject to these restrictions on a case-to-case basis. Can shut down or further ban.
