150 Indians Allegedly Kidnapped From Kabul Airport But Later Released: Reports

New Delhi | Amid reports of around 150 Indians being abducted outside the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, local Afghan journalist Zaki Daryabi said the abducted persons had been released and were on their way to the airport. “Two sources confirm that Indians have been released by Taliban. They are on their way to Kabul airport,” Daryabi tweeted.

He also said that these Indians were taken from Kabul airport to the nearby Alokozai complex. Although they are safe.

Reports also said that these Indians were taken to the area near the Alokozai compound, a garage designated for the US military. There was a huge crowd at the airport and the Taliban reportedly inspected their documents and released them.

The report said that the hijackers later took them to the right place at the airport, from where their evacuation flight would leave for India after getting the slot.

Earlier in the day, Afghan media reported that Taliban affiliates had kidnapped more than 150 people, mostly Indian nationals, from an area close to the airport.

A local publication ‘Kabul Now’ also confirmed this.

However, the Taliban has denied reports of abduction of Indian nationals.

Taliban spokesman Ahmadullah Wasek told local media: “The news of the kidnapping is a rumor. Taliban members are helping all foreign nationals to reach the airport. We are working to provide all foreigners with a safe passage to reach the airport.” Committed.”

He said Taliban forces are safely escorting about 150 Indian nationals to the airport, Xinhua news agency reported.

About 5,000 US troops have been deployed at Kabul airport to help with the airlift process.
